IT Deployment & Configuration Technician

  • Tulsa, OK, USA
  • Full-Time
  • On-Site
  • 15-16 USD / Hour

Job Description:

Location: Tulsa, OK (100% onsite)
Type: Contract-to-Hire — 4 months, with conversion to permanent
Pay: $15.00–$16.00/hr to start · Conversion target $18.00/hr
Schedule: Full-time, onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking IT Deployment & Configuration Technicians to support a large-scale technology deployment project. In this role you will process, test, and configure network equipment and mobile devices according to documented procedures — both preparing new devices for shipment to customer locations and handling returned equipment through the RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) process.

Please note: this position is weighted more heavily toward RMA and returned-equipment processing than new device configuration. Day to day, you can expect to spend the majority of your time receiving returned devices, testing and verifying their condition, determining whether units are functional or defective, wiping and restoring them, documenting outcomes, and staging equipment for return to inventory or reshipment.

This is high-volume, repetitive, process-driven work in a warehouse environment. It is an excellent fit for someone with entry-level to intermediate technical experience who wants to build hands-on IT deployment experience, works accurately at a steady pace, and takes pride in following an established procedure exactly.

Responsibilities

RMA & Returned Equipment Processing (primary focus)

  • Receive, log, and inspect returned network devices and iPads
  • Test and verify device functionality to determine whether units are working, repairable, or defective
  • Perform device wipes, resets, and restores according to documented procedures
  • Triage and document defects, damage, and missing components accurately
  • Sort and stage processed equipment for return to inventory, reshipment, or disposition
  • Maintain accurate records for every unit handled, including serial numbers and asset tags

Configuration & Deployment (secondary focus)

  • Configure network devices and iPads according to established configuration guides
  • Follow detailed technical procedures and deployment documentation
  • Verify configuration accuracy before devices ship
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware and configuration issues

General

  • Work closely with warehouse personnel to prepare devices for shipment
  • Meet daily production and quality expectations
  • Maintain an organized, clean work area on a high-volume staging floor

Required Qualifications

  • Reliable daily transportation to and from the work site. This position is fully onsite with a set daily schedule, and consistent, on-time attendance every scheduled day is essential to the project. Candidates must have dependable transportation they can count on for the full length of the contract.
  • Basic computer and networking knowledge, including general familiarity with IP addressing and network fundamentals
  • Ability to follow written technical documentation precisely, with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks accurately across large volumes of equipment
  • Strong organizational skills and accurate record-keeping
  • Ability to work onsite in a warehouse environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting/moving equipment
  • Ability to pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, or equivalent training or coursework (including in-progress)
  • Prior RMA, depot, repair bench, or returned-equipment processing experience
  • Experience configuring or imaging routers, switches, wireless devices, laptops, or mobile devices
  • Previous deployment, staging, warehouse, or IT support experience
  • Experience working to a daily production quota

What We're Looking For

  • Reliable and dependable. Shows up every scheduled day, on time. This is the single most important quality for this project.
  • Detail-oriented. Catches the mismatched serial number and the cracked bezel, and records both correctly.
  • Steady under repetition. Comfortable running the same procedure hundreds of times without losing accuracy.
  • Process-driven. Follows the documented method even when a shortcut looks faster.
  • Quick to learn. Picks up new procedures and works efficiently in a fast-paced, project-based environment.

Why This Role

This is a genuine entry point into IT infrastructure work. You will finish this contract with documented, hands-on experience in device configuration, deployment, and RMA processing — the exact experience that entry-level IT and help desk employers ask for and that most candidates have no way to get. Strong performers have a defined path to permanent conversion at $18.00/hr.
